Naungusan ng mga bansang Brunei at Vietnam ang Pilipinas pagdating sa competitiveness ayon sa World Economic Forum.
Sa inilabas na 2017 Global Competitiveness Report, umakyat lamang ng isang baitang ang Pilipinas mula rank 57 patungong 56.
Habang mula sa rank 60, naging rank 55 naman ang Vietnam. Mula rank 58 tumungong 46 ang Brunei.
Sinusukat sa report ang 12 factors ng bawat economy:
- Macroeconomic environment
- health and primary education
- higher education and training
- goods market efficiency
- labor market efficiency
- financial market development
- technological readiness
- market size
- business sophistication
Ayon naman sa Makati Business Club, bumagsak sa ika-pito ang Pilipinas sa ranking ng mga Southeast Asian countries na kasama sa index.
“With this two-point drop in regional standing, the Philippines is now below Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam, which both made large strides in their respective competitiveness rankings,” ani MBC.
Dismayado naman si John Forbes, ang senior adviser ng American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
“I am disappointed that the Philippines did not improve and I think that we should take a look very carefully at why Vietnam has improved,” ani Forbes.
