Journalist Matthew Pérez to Duterte supporters: You berate us for pointing out the injustice

“We aren’t mere critics. A lot of us are not mere detractors because we don’t like the president,” ani Pérez.

“A lot of us have expressed our displeasure on how the president has run this country for the last two years,”dagdag pa ni Pérez.

Ayon kay Pérez, ang pagtuligsa kay Duterte ay isang paraan ng pagmamahal sa bayan.

“In fact, we love this country. Probably just as much, if not more than you do,” ani Pérez.

Pinasaringan ni Pérez ang pagpapalusot ng mga kaalyado at supporters ng Pangulo sa tuwing pumapalpak ito.

“For one mishap after another, all we have ever seen is one spin after another. And all the spins are such insults not only to our intellect but to our persons as if we are being treated like such fools,” ani Pérez.

“You attack us for our resistance to the unacceptable. You berate us for pointing out the injustice,” dagdag pa ni Pérez.

We aren’t mere critics.

A lot of us are not mere detractors because we don’t like the president.

A lot of us have expressed our displeasure on how the president has run this country for the last two years.

That doesn’t make us your enemy.

In fact, we love this country. Probably just as much, if not more than you do.

You say we don’t understand the president. Maybe we don’t. But you don’t make it easy for us either. For one mishap after another, all we have ever seen is one spin after another. And all the spins are such insults not only to our intellect but to our persons as if we are being treated like such fools.

China.
The West Philippine Sea.
The fishermen and their noodles.
That kiss.
The misogyny.
The recycling of corrupt government officials.
The TRAIN law.
The killings.

You attack us for our resistance to the unacceptable.

You berate us for pointing out the injustice.

You paint us as enemies for our dissent.

Meanwhile, our taxes are funding incompetent government officials’ salaries. Our taxes are being squandered by corruption and we have yet to see one go behind bars. They’d get fired and be recycled shortly after. Our fishermen cannot freely fish in one of our seas. The killings haven’t stopped. And somehow we are the enemy?

I don’t get it.
